Beautiful Places of Russia is an app that helps you choose places to travel across Russia ⛺️
The task:
The client asked us to build a mobile guide to beautiful places in Russia
with a full map, filters, geolocation and user-generated content.
The main goal was to make it easier to find scenic and little-known travel destinations and to provide a convenient trip-planning tool.

Development stages
- Analysis and development planningThe client came to us with a finished UI design. We assessed the technical complexity, agreed on the architecture and discussed the implementation plan.01
- Development and integrationsThe app's frontend was built with Flutter (for iOS and Android at once).
We built over 15 screens: map, list, place card, filters, favorites, profile, adding places, sign-in and more, with particular attention to the UX of the map and filters.
The backend and admin panel were built with Python.
We developed the API and an admin panel for managing places and users, and provided media storage, geodata processing and scalability.
Map integration
We used OpenStreetMap with custom tiles and built the logic for displaying markers, opening place cards and filtering by region and category.02 - Testing and releaseDuring development and before final delivery we ran manual testing on Android and iOS.
We also helped the client create developer accounts in the app stores.
After fixing the final issues, we published the app on the App Store, Google Play and RuStore.03 - Further feature developmentSome time after release, having received feedback from an active audience, the client came back and asked us to add features:
– we built import of new locations via CSV,
– added email sign-in,
– let users edit places,
– updated filters, improved offline map operation and sped up content loading.04 - ResultThe app became an all-round companion for travelers in Russia. At release, its database held over 8,000 places across the country, including natural attractions, architectural landmarks and unusual locations.
Users can:
– search by map and category,
– mark favorite places,
– add their own points with photos and descriptions,
– share reviews and impressions.
The app runs reliably on iOS and Android and has earned positive reviews. The client has big plans for developing the app further with us.05

I hired Sergei to develop a tourism mobile app for two platforms, iOS and Android. They wrote the code from a finished design. After discussing the spec, it became clear that the team has great development experience – I realized this when we started discussing non-standard, labor-intensive features. We worked under a contract, with payment split into 3 parts.
The work was done on time. During development they were always in touch, answered quickly and made corrections. Besides the app itself, they also built a landing page about it.
