Mobile app for Shikana, a family entertainment center

The task:

We were asked to build a mobile app for Shikana, a family entertainment center: a clear, convenient Flutter app connected to the client's backend.

Main flows in the app:
– easy booking of activities (go-karting, bowling, children's events and more),
– full user control over bookings, personal profile and family members,
– gift certificates with payment,
– promo content, the café menu and navigation across the center's locations.

We took on app development for iOS and Android, backend integration, publishing to the App Store and Google Play, and post-release support.

📌 The app is available on the App Store and Google Play

Development stages
  • Project analysis and development kickoff
    Goal of the stage: prepare the technical foundation for the Flutter app, agree on API integration and set up smooth collaboration with the client's team.

    Team: project manager, lead developer and Flutter developer.

    At the start we received finished design layouts and an API description from the client. The backend was being developed on the client's side at the same time, so it was important to align on the integration approach and resolve open questions before active development began.

    We analyzed the API structure, clarified request and response formats, prepared the project's architectural foundation and moved key interface elements from Figma into code. This let us move quickly to building screens and keep the pace in later stages.

    We paid particular attention to the working process with the external team: we agreed on logic details as we went, flagged bottlenecks in time and kept communication simple and clear for everyone involved.

  • Feature development and backend integration
    Goal of the stage: build all user flows according to the layouts and documentation, ensure stable operation on iOS and Android, and test the API interaction logic.

    Team: project manager, lead developer and Flutter developer.

    With the base architecture ready, we moved on to the main user flows and step-by-step backend integration. We delivered features in blocks so that each section could be tested separately and errors wouldn't pile up toward the end.

    During development we checked screen behavior and data exchange with the API, and agreed on details of non-standard flows with the client. This helped keep the app stable and move calmly toward release without unnecessary rework.

    At this stage we delivered:
    – user sign-in and registration;
    – home screen with collections and special offers;
    – activity card with detailed information;
    – calendar and booking slots;
    – purchases and order history;
    – gift certificate management;
    – personal account with data editing;
    – system pages (about the company, visiting rules, etc.);
    – external links (for example, to the privacy policy);
    – notifications and booking status display.

  • App store publication
    At the final stage we prepared the app for publication on the App Store and Google Play. We ran final testing, built release versions, handed the required files to the client and supported the submission for moderation.

    After publication we stayed in touch for technical questions and targeted improvements that came up as the app was used.

  • Result
    The client got a mobile app that covers the key flows for family entertainment center guests: booking activities, managing bookings, working with certificates, viewing up-to-date information and interacting with the venue in one interface.

    For the business, this added a digital channel for sales and communication with visitors. For users, it's a more convenient way to book activities without extra calls or checking with an administrator.

    On our side, we built the app, integrated it with the backend and brought the product to a working release on both platforms.

“
On the Shikana project it mattered not only to do our work well but also to fit into the client's processes. We worked closely with their team, stayed within the agreed technical framework and synced on key stages.

This let us build the app without unnecessary delays, connect it correctly to the client's backend and bring the project to release on schedule.
